Weezer, good or bad?
04.29.04 (4:31 pm) [edit]
I'm in the middle of a really intense debate with a really intense friend about weather or not Weezer is the *best* band ever, or really really good. Whatever.
I'm saying that they are very good. But now with their two recent albums they pretty much suck. The first two kicked SO much. But the ones now really bite.
He is saying that they are the best band, like ever, and he practically lived for them. I don't know...
You guys, I need opinions. Leave a comment saying weather or not you like them, and if so, which albums, fav. song, whatnot. You know the drill.

Hi... Just to let you know...
04.27.04 (5:40 pm) [edit]
Hi, Just to let you guys know... I added a person to the friends section of my site. He's a really cool cat that I can't belive I forgot.
Also, I made a mistake. Under 'Marketing Jesus' I marked down that Venus makes a perfect pentagram in 7 years...well I lied. It's actually 8 years. I didn't double check my sources and I apologize. Like anyone caught it, though.
And if your wondering, my I have several sources, but the one I checked on is a book that I am reading right now entitled, "The Da Vinci Code." By the way, I really recommend it for enyone who is into symbology or just anyone else. It's a fictous story based on factual information. It's a great read and reads fairly fast. Well, this isn't a book review site, so bye.
p.s. I signed up for googles new "GMail" and now I have three e-mail adresses!!! So, all you crazy cats can send me all the crap you want at IndieCodie@gmail.com Or the usuall TheFlamingBeans@aol.com Or short e-mails to 8064383433@vmobl.com Scary...

Suicide is wierd. It's the most selfish thing in the world, yet I feel it may be the most reliving.
In FAR West Texas lies a city named El Paso. Well, out of that town came the alternative sensation At The Drive In. I havn't even heard all of their albums and they are easily in my top three favorite bands (which is hard to get into). Well, they got tired of eachother and split.
Two bands came out of that: Sparta (Much like The Mars Volta, but more "real") and The Mars Volta (indeed).
This one us about the latter. The Mars Volta's first album, De- Loused in the Comatorium, to my knowlege, which isn't totally reliable, in some cases, was written in memory of a friend and fellow band mate who commited suicide. I'm not going to get into it, if you want to know details, search their site.
This album is great. Long songs, swift tribal beats, obvious Pink Floydd influenced guitar/paino solos, and crazy vocals make out to be one of the best albums I have ever heard, honest. Ten tracks span his little fatal expirence (one song is even supposed to be the coma he slipped into before he died).
Alot of overdubbing is in this album. There is almost too much, but when it gets to that point in a song, it makes the seemless transition back to substance. The whole album is surreal and slightly vauge. I really like the vocals. This is the same singer from At The Drive In and you can immediatly notice the improvments. Scary...
Overall, this is one of, if not the best album I have ever listened to. I can still stick it in and feel a rush of energy through my body. They pulled it off because it's real emotions. It's not love, or happy stuff you hear on other albums, it's death. But it's classy, which is wierd to say about an alternative band. Post Rock fans will love the mellow parts of the 12 minute songs, Punk Rockers will love the quick beats and violent guitars, emo kids will love the slightly whiny vocals and true emotions, and the indie kids will love the honesty about it all. That is all you need to know. If anyone has anything to add, leave a comment.
p.s. I'm felling better today and currently working on a review for "Kind of Like Spitting"--thats the name of the band. 'Till next time!

I'm fake
04.18.04 (9:59 am) [edit]
I'm fake. I wear masks. Only like three or four people know me for who I am.
This one time, I took a personality test in "The Teach's" class (orcheastrae). It said I wore masks. I didn't belive it, and got really upset. But I forgot about it.
Recently, I looked at myself emotionaly and relized, I [i]do[/i] wear masks.
I hide all these emotions and sink into my journal. I don't know if people suspected this or not. I didn't. One person did.
Um...that's the reason this isn't personal, because it makes me really self-concious if people know alot about me and my life, because I just can't write, "Oh! And today the new Wal-Mart opened and I'm SOOOOO excited!!! OMG!!" I have to personalize everything. This is the only topic I could talk about that isn't that personal but still have fun with it.
So, discuss, my favorite Daft Punk song just came on the radio.

Okay.
Here is an update for Mr. Teacher.
"Marketing Jesus" is up! The link is on the left. I'm still working on my review, its such a complex album and I'm going to start doing real good reviews. I've asked a couple or people to do reviews and I'm waiting on those.
Also, I found some old albums to do reviews on, but they are a secret. Sorry guys.
More later

New things to come!!!
04.06.04 (6:19 pm) [edit]
Okay. My teacher (who actually reads this thing...a teacher.) Is griping at me for lack of new content. So here is a list of things to look foward to inthe the near future.
First. I just got "Deloused in The Creamatoriom" by The Mars Volta, so expect a review on that.
Also, I'm working on a full website with hopefully with my friends maybe. I got a new digital camera so I'm going to possibly get shots up.
Next, I'm also going to have some people from school do reviews for me on their favorite albums (for example: I'll have the coolest cat ever do a review on "Pet Sounds" by the Beach Boys or something).
Finally, I am starting a new "sub site" called "Marketing Jesus" It's going to be about why christianity shouldn't be a "Fad" and should be a religion.
