Daily Tip:
Modest Mouse
02.28.04 (5:41 pm)   [edit]
Review #2 of the day.

Band: Modest Mouse. Album: The Lonsome Crowded West.

Okay, I've heard another modest mouse album...I don't remember which one...but it was FANTASTIC!
This one is better.
15 freaking awesome songs that will keep you wanting more, more of each song...and the album.
The first song is strong, "Teeth like God's Shoeshine."
And that pattern follows. Each song is awesome. There is not even ONE out of the 15 that I wanted to skip.
Now, I know what you're thinking, "You're just obsessed with every piece of alternative crap you get a hold of." Maybe true, but this is definately indie gold. From, "Lounge" to "Polor Opposites" you will love this.
Right now...get it...now...

Fugazi
02.28.04 (5:22 pm)   [edit]
I'm doing two reviews today...just in two different posts. I'm wierd.

First: Fugazi the album is 13 Songs. Anyway, here goes:

This album starts off strong with a song entitled "Waiting Room." The band is on Dischord. 80's-90's post hardcore punk. Songs five and six are very strong: "Give me the cure," and, "Suggestion." Industrial lyrics plauge this album. Number 10 is definately my favorite, "Burning Too." The album ends and you're so pissed it's over! Fugazi is on of the best bands I've heard since the Pixies. One very odd thing about this album is that every song, the vocals change people. I don't know... Anyway, you all need to get "13 Songs." It will definately make your day. :)

Christain Music
02.23.04 (6:52 pm)   [edit]
Okay, I have a problem. I'm Christain...but I can't really find any good christain music. I mean, there are good worship bands (Justin Cofield Band, Jeff Berry) and good emo bands (The Juliana Theory, Me Without You), but there aren't many. And the ones that are out there are basically the same. So, if anybody has any good christain bands, please e-mail me them at TheFlamingBeans@aol.com

Which brings me to my next point: You people should really check out some of your local worship bands. There are some really fantastic ones out there. Really powerful. You should all find some worship bands.

The Clash
02.19.04 (5:38 pm)   [edit]
I recently received "The Singles" The Clash album. First thing I have to say...this album definately kicks seriously butt. It has eighteen splended tracks, many of which you probobly know by heart. It is plauged with catchy riffs and simple drums...but intrestingly enough, the music is always exciting. From "Clash City Rockers," to "English Civil War," to "Should I stay or should I go?" this album will definately rock your socks off! I definately recommend this album. Anybody even remotely interested in alternative music will love this fast paced, party-for-your-stero. Anyway...get it.

P.S. I took advice from a friend and murderd my different genres. Now, all my reviews will appear here...then under the link entitled: "~~~REVIEWS~~~"

American Idol
02.17.04 (5:32 pm)   [edit]
American Idol singers not only suck, but have poor taste in music! What is this crap?!?! These people don't even try! I mean, who are they going to be idols to? Lazy bums? Sedentary office people? Idiots? What? This crap won't fly. People don't need to have Idols picked by some fat guy who likes rap, a really moody (yet cool) english guy, and some outdated wannabe janet crap singer! It's b.s.! Anyway, I'm out.

Do any of you like indie music?
02.16.04 (4:08 pm)   [edit]
Indie music is got to be the best genre ever! There is no face to it, yet you know when you hear it. Any off those label links on the left will take you to indie bands. From Modest Mouse to the Chemical Brothers. All indie is good. The best analogy I can think of is indie movies. When the movie is indie, it doesn't have to worry about what the stupid studio says is "in" and there fore [the director] can make better movies. It's the same with indie music. They don't have to worry about some coperate label telling them what to put out. They are free to do whatever. It isn't the easiest way to scale the wall of fame, but definately the mose rewarding...
Find a good indie band, and your life is complete!

The Fall of Emo
02.15.04 (9:18 am)   [edit]
:( Emo. Emo is a genre now characterized by it's sad faces and moaning vocals. It's all a lie, you know. You've problobly heard of Dashboard Connfessionals. Well...they are a great example of what [i]not[/i] to listen to.
--See, emo originated in the late eighties earliy nineties. What first kicked off this movement was a little record label in washington called Dischord Records. Two bands headed it. Sunny Day Realestate: softer lyrics and harder music. For people who like to rock hard with tolerable vocals. And Fugazi: SDRE's mirror image. Hard vocals, funky music, catchy guitsr riffs, ect... These two bands spawned a litter of other bands with the right idea.

--Bands were on the right path. You see, emo started out as punk bands that had a grip of reality and, more importantly, emotion in everything (hence the name emo). Bands would start out good. Then die.

--Take Thursday for example. Their first album was an indie masterpiece. The second album came, and you saw that Thursday was not just another emo band. It was fantastic album. Then the current third one...this one sucks. See...it becomes hard for [emo] bands to "push" all that emotion out. Their sound became manufactured and planned out. The lead singer doesn't even know what he sounds like.

-- Bands like Further Seems Forever and Dashboard skip the first two steps and go right into the crap. Luckely, there are still bands that know whats going down. Like Hot Hot Heat and At The Drive In's predecessors Sparta and The Mars Volta.

--Anyway, emo is going down the drain. I'm here to warn you that there are bands claiming to be emo that aren't. Emo was good before there was a face to it. It just proves that things are awesome as long as you have to expirence it, and not be told about it. You have been warned.

The Clash
The Sex Pistols
Mc5
The Misfits
Mission of Burma
Public Image Ltd.
The Ramones
The Replacements
UK Subs

I could go on...but that whould keep you all quiet for a while...or maybe it'll make you all to noisy...
What have I created!
